About phimosis

What is phimosis?

Phimosis is a condition where the opening in the foreskin is too narrow to be retracted. You can read more on our information pages.

How long does it take to cure phimosis using Glansie?

You should start to see results within a week or two. Generally it will take a few weeks to cure phimosis completely, however there is a wide variation between people.

What is the chance of phimosis recurring after it has been cured?

No possibility at all. Once the glans is exposed you should retract the foreskin regularly (at least once a day). This will ensure that phimosis does not recur.

How many people have succeeded in curing phimosis using Glansie?

More than 3,000.

Is Glansie effective when there is adhesion between the foreskin and the head of the penis?

It depends on the amount of adhesion. If slight, Glansie can be effective. If serious, however, we recommend you consult a specialist doctor.

How important is it to cure phimosis?

It is not essential to cure phimosis, many people tolerate it. There are two important results of curing the phimosis and allowing the foreskin to be fully retracted:

Sensitivity of the penis will be improved, increasing arousal during intercourse.

The chance of infection and irritation under the foreskin will be virtually eliminated.

What other cures are there for phimosis?

We are not aware of any other non-surgical cures apart from stretching of the foreskin. This stretching can be done using the fingers in mild cases, but use of Glansie is much quicker and more effective.

Surgical cures include circumcision and preputio-plasty which is a more complex alternative to circumcision. Preputio-plasty is a form of plastic surgery where the foreskin is re-shaped to allow retraction.

How many people have phimosis?

It is estimated that up to 5% of men have some degree of phimosis.

Will curing my phimosis also cure problems of delayed ejaculation?

Yes, it is quite possible that delayed ejaculation will be cured. This is because the exposed glans is more sensitive to sexual stimulation.

Is there any connection between phimosis and penis size?

No, phimosis does not affect penis size.

Stretching the foreskin using Glansie

Full instructions can be found here: How to use Glansie

Can the use of Glansie to stretch the foreskin cause any unnecessary lengthening of the skin?

No, there is no problem because Glansie does not lengthen the foreskin, it just stretches the foreskin width-wise.

What is the minimum size of penis for using Glansie?

The size of penis does not matter. But the opening of the foreskin must be at least 6 mm. It is very rare for the phimosis to be make the opening less than this.

Is there pain during the use of  Glansie?

Some slight pain is inevitable while the foreskin is being stretched. This is just like the pain felt in the sides of the mouth if you try to stretch your mouth wide using two fingers.

The pain should be moderate, easily bearable. If you feel too much after a few minutes then release the Glansie for a few seconds to allow the pain to subside.

After using Glansie I can expose the head of the penis, but the foreskin is very tight just under the head. I this to be expected?

Yes, this is normal during stretching of the foreskin. You need to continue using Glansie until the retraction of the foreskin is smooth and comfortable.

At which age can a child start to use Glansie?

It is not appropriate to use Glansie on children under 11 as the foreskin is still developing. Above this age there should be no problem using Glansie but we would recommend consulting a doctor first.

The tip of Glansie has a width of 6 mm. If the foreskin opening is more than 6 mm then Glansie can be used.

About the penis

Is it normal that the foreskin is attached to the glans (the head of the penis)?

Yes. It is normal. The foreskin is attached on the underside of the head of the penis. The attachment is called the frenulum.

Is it normal to have a rash on the head of the penis?

There are many causes for a rash, or redness, on the head of the penis. It may be a harmless rash due to the absence of air under the foreskin, or it could be a natural infection such as thrush. There is also the possibility that the rash could be caused by a sexually transmitted disease (STD). We would suggest you ask a doctor to diagnose the cause of the rash.

At what age does the glans get exposed generally?

At the age around fifteen.
